The United Kingdom Prepared to Utilize Seized Russian Assets to Fund Ukraine's Military Campaign
The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's holdings to aid the Ukrainian war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has stated.
In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.
They added that the decision would be implemented in close cooperation with the America.
British restrictions have blocked in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow began its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, previously, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russia's funds had exclusively been taken from gains and dividends earned on them.
Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward employing the complete amount of the seized Russia's state assets to conclude the conflict.
He stated that further measures over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.
This declaration follows EU leaders convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss employing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.
In the previous month, President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to take or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, according to reports.
The worth of seized Russian assets in the Europe is calculated to be almost €211bn.
