The Two Fatalities Identified in the Ivy League School Shooting as Law Enforcement Continue Hunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who died in the recent mass shooting at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their killer carried on following the discharge by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared condolences online, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.
