Israelis have come together throughout the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-initiated offensive on 7 October 2023, as negotiations advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the hostilities in Gaza.

The incident led to more than 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken away to Gaza as prisoners. It was the uniquely deadliest day for the Jewish community since the Holocaust.

Israel answered by beginning a armed campaign in Gaza which has claimed in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the region's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its statistics are considered reliable by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"Our aggressive enemies have hit us hard, but they have not broken us," the prime minister stated on that day.

He also promised to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the abducted, the removal of the Hamas administration and the assurance that Gaza will not create a threat to Israel".

Remembrance Events Across Israel

The national leadership postponed official memorials until 16 October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but events still were held around the country on that day.

A commemorative event for the loved ones of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas attack was conducted in the coastal city. Arranged by the families themselves, it was aired throughout Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was held around the country.

Ceasefire Talks in Egypt

Meanwhile, Israeli and Hamas delegations gathered in the North African Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a continuing round of indirect talks to review the terms of the plan.

A prominent delegate knowledgeable about the negotiations revealed that an late session of indirect talks started at evening in Egypt.

The representative stated the day's discussions concluded without tangible results, due to disagreements over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over guarantees Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not recommence fighting after the first phase of the deal.

He added that the discussions are "tough and have still not produce any real breakthrough," but pointed out that mediators are working hard to reduce the differences between the two sides.

Key Issues in Negotiations

  • An enduring ceasefire
  • The trade of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Measures for assistance deliveries
  • After-conflict governance of the area

Civilian Sentiment

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square previously, 29-year-old Hagar - whose family member endured the attack on the outdoor event, where hundreds were killed and many more were captured by Hamas gunmen - shared: "Nowhere appears as home now and until all the hostages return none of us will be secure."

"Once we see all home returned, we can breathe once more. Then we can commence heal," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, people gathered to demonstrate their backing for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel reports forty-eight stay in captivity in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are thought to be surviving.

Activist one woman stated: "We need do whatever arrangement necessary for the abducted to come back home. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be safe."

Surveys now consistently show that around the majority of Israeli citizens want the war to end in return for the release of the hostages.

Palestinian Conditions

At the location of the music event, grieving people gathered to honor the dead.

From the site, the sound of military attacks and artillery could be noticed just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where observers said the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In the main city, bombardments were documented in the early hours of that day in the west side district, area and Nasr areas and in the eastern district of Sheikh Radwan, as well the settlement to the northwestern area.

"When the dusk arrives, the anxiety arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose teenage son was killed by an Israeli air strike previously, described.

"My family are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are resting together, clinging, notably my youngest child who rests his head on me all night."

"Every second we check the updates to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this halt will not be finalized and that the conflict will resume to us."

Medical Emergency

The healthcare center in Gaza City announced it had received the corpses of half dozen people by the daytime, including a trio who lost their lives in an Israeli strike in the south part area.

A different healthcare center in the southern urban center of the city indicated two more dead people had been delivered. One of them was lost his life by Israeli troops while looking for aid to the southern area, medical staff reported.

The region's health ministry announced a significant number of the {territ
