More than 50 solitary minor migrants who disappeared not long after reaching the UK and while in the care of official bodies are remain unaccounted for, as per data gathered.

Many of the missing children came in dinghies or stowed away in the backs of trucks and are thought to have been taken by criminal networks. Kent is often the area where they first land.

Statistical Information Shows Concerning Numbers

Disclosed data has recorded 345 children going missing from local care, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

From 2021 and 2023, when temporary accommodations for children were run in addition to hotels in other areas, 132 children vanished from the accommodations. Among them, 108 were later found but 24 are still missing.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children went missing from reception centres for such children, with 182 found and 32 remaining vanished.

Regulatory Updates and Persistent Problems
