Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
American performer Finn, who was seen in beloved programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA recently having undergone cancer treatment since 2022, per news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
An Extensive Television Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His work in movies are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.
Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
