American Military Executes Deadly Attack in Eastern Pacific, Leading to 4 Deaths

As stated by a senior defense spokesperson, the American military executed a fatal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four individuals.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization in international waters. Surveillance confirmed the vessel was traveling along a established drug smuggling route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. All four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no American forces were harmed.”

Context and Recent Actions

The statement follows a day after a declaration regarding a naval blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and other crimes, pledging to increase the military buildup.

Only on the previous day, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 military engagements have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Actions Amidst Scrutiny

The administration has faced growing demands to make public video of a 2 September vessel attack. But, officials have refused to do so. The administration has supported its campaign as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the bounds of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has stated the campaign is about stopping drugs destined for the US, comments from a senior aide seemed to suggest a broader political aim. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff remarked the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until Venezuela's president cries uncle.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a push to remove Venezuela's sitting government.
